COSTA MESA : Members Sought for 2 City Commissions

The city is looking for residents to fill openings on its Planning and Transportation commissions.

The duties of the five-member Planning Commission are to review and act on proposed developments, including zoning changes and special permits. The commission also makes recommendations to the City Council on planning and zoning issues and land-use policies.

Each member serves a four-year term and is paid $400 a month. The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month and holds study sessions on intervening Mondays.

The duties of the five-member Transportation Commission are to establish and review transportation policies, including traffic-control devices, traffic ordinances, improvement to the city’s transportation systems and traffic laws, and to make recommendations to the City Council on these issues.

Each member serves a four-year term and is paid $300 a month. The Transportation Commission meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

Residents interested in applying for either commission should submit a resume and an explanation, not to exceed one page, of their philosophy concerning either planning or transportation.

The application deadline is Feb. 8.
