Fearful of Slaughter: Members of the heavy-metal rock band Slaughter also called off their European tour and are returning to the United States because of bomb threats. The band’s performances Saturday and Sunday in London were planned with heavy security that included bomb-sniffing dogs, and Slaughter was headed for Germany when the promoter allegedly received numerous bomb threats from undisclosed sources. “Just think what great headlines we’d provide for the terrorists with a name like Slaughter,” said lead singer Mark Slaughter. “We just can’t put all those people’s lives in danger.”
