SCENE ON THE STREET : The Many Shades of Cool
- Share via
They’re still hot. They’re still cool. Outdoors, they’ve been in for decades. And their darkly benign power is growing.
The shy, in shades, can stare with abandon. The bold acquire a mental mask: With sunglasses on, who cares if you make a spectacle of yourself?
And the shape of shades to come, if anything like these spotted on the streets of Pasadena recently, is big, small, round, square, triangular. Rugged or delicate, plain or ornamented, a swath of plastic draped wide over the temples or a twist of metal at the bridge.
The theory is as plain as the nose on your face. Choose your image. Then hide it to display it.
