Lease for Temporary City Hall Approved

Share

The City Council has authorized the lease of property at 15222 Del Amo Ave. to use as a temporary City Hall while the permanent one is being remodeled.

City Hall is expected to move to a 24,300-square-foot building on Del Amo in the spring and remain there for up to three years.

Total rent and operating expenses for the leased site are estimated at $848,155.

While City Hall employees are at the Del Amo site, Police Department employees will move into City Hall so their facility can be remodeled. When they move back into their quarters, work will begin on the rest of the Civic Center.

The City Council approved the design for the $8.5-million remodeling of the Civic Center in August to accommodate growth of the city and its employees. Since the center was built in 1975, the city’s population has almost doubled. The redesign will add second stories to the Police Department’s building and to City Hall.
