Azusa : Air Quality a Consideration

Share

Air quality effects must be a major consideration for all future developments in the city from housing complexes to traffic signals, under an amendment to the city’s General Plan approved Monday by the City Council.

The amendment was approved 4 to 0, with Councilman Anthony Naranjo absent.

It is the first time air quality concerns have been written into the General Plan, which governs all of the city’s future development, said Dan Watrous, senior city planner.

Watrous said the new language is expected to generate a number of air quality ordinances within the next few months. He said some of the ordinances may affect public transportation, building construction and the four rock quarries in the city.
