Sun Microsystems Inc.: The Mountain View, Calif.-based high-tech firm said its second-quarter net income nearly doubled to $39.1 million, while revenue rose 27% to $753 million. The company cited the strong performance of a new desktop workstation introduced last fall, generally healthy sales and cost controls.
