Debating U.S. Involvement in Gulf Conflict

Share

In response to several letters to the editor (Jan. 22), I would like to say that many of us who oppose this war have been protesting for peace and justice in many other situations. I question why George Bush is not doing the same. Many of us who protest this war have become angry at the lack of concern he shows toward the vast numbers of social problems plaguing our society.

Why isn’t our President as angry about rape, murder, AIDS, child abuse and gang-related crime in the United States as he is about the invasion and “rape of Kuwait”? This is oppression. While the Bush Administration tells us that due to the budget deficit we have no money to fight social ills in the U.S., we are spending billions of dollars on this war. Where are his priorities? I think President Bush is the inconsistent one!
