In TEL AVIV, several of Israel’s most prominent peace activists said they support the war against Iraq and are disappointed with anti-war protests in the West. “There are wars that one should be against and wars that are necessary to bring peace,” one leader of the Peace Now movement told reporters. The stoppage had the tacit support of the government, which said it “recommends citizens observe this day of solidarity with the brother Iraqi people.”
