The Sidelines : Ex-Champ Faces Drug Charge
Former World Boxing Assn. lightweight champion Ras I Bramble and a Newton man were arrested on drug charges after an almost monthlong investigation during which police found bags of marijuana and cocaine in the Newton man’s apartment, officials said.
Bramble, 30, of Hampton Township, was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a high school, possession of marijuana and attempting to destroy evidence on Jan. 26, Sussex County Prosecutor Richard Honig said Monday.
William J. Braxton, 41, was charged with nine drug counts.
If convicted on all of the charges, Bramble faces more than 22 years in prison, $300,000 in fines and $5,000 in civil penalties.
