Walter S. Nielsen, a Bank of America vice president, has been appointed director of the bank’s private banking office in Newport Beach. He will also supervise private banking offices, which provide investment services for affluent customers, in Rancho Mirage and Costa Mesa. Nielsen, who joined the bank in 1963, was most recently regional vice president of the north San Diego regional commercial banking office.
