California IN BRIEF : YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK : Drought Forces Ski Area to Close

Badger Pass at Yosemite National Park is the latest ski area to fall victim to the drought. Park spokeswoman Lisa Dapprich said downhill slopes have been closed indefinitely because of a lack of snow. Some cross-country skiing is allowed, however. Dodge Ridge, farther north in the Sierra, closed its downhill runs a week ago.
