Share
From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Israel shelled two villages in the Syrian-policed Bekaa Valley as Soviet-made rockets struck Israel’s self-proclaimed security zone in south Lebanon for the second time in 24 hours. No casualties were reported, although several houses were damaged in the attacks by Arab guerrillas. Israel carved out the 6- to 10-mile wide zone in south Lebanon after removing the bulk of its forces from Lebanon in 1985 after a three-year occupation.
