Like Bopper, Like Son: The son of J.P. (The Big Bopper) Richardson is working to keep his father’s legacy alive. Monday was the 32nd anniversary of the plane crash that killed Richardson, the Texas disc jockey who had a big hit with “Chantilly Lace,” Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Holly and Valens have already had their lives depicted in movies. J.P. (The Little Bopper) Richardson says there is Hollywood interest in a film about his dad. If there is a movie, the younger Richardson, who wasn’t born until after his father’s death, will put out an album of previously unreleased Big Bopper tracks.
