McGraw-Hill Inc.: The publishing, media and financial services conglomerate said it earned $51.4 million in the fourth quarter, contrasted with a loss of $98.3 million in year-ago period. Revenue rose 7.7% to $558 million. The New York firm said it earned $172.5 million for 1990, compared to $47.8 million in 1989, when it took a $152-million charge to discontinue operations and write down assets. Annual revenue climbed 8.4% to $1.94 billion. The firm said cost-cutting has helped improve its profit picture.
