Toshiba Notebook Computer Price Cut

Share

Facing increasing competition from scores of competitors in the notebook computer market, Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. in Irvine said Monday that it cut its price on one line of notebook computers by $300 to $1,899.

Toshiba cut the price on its T1000XE notebook computer, which at 6.2 pounds is the company’s smallest and lightest model in a line of 10 laptop computers.

Toshiba holds about 24% of the laptop computer market in the United States, but dozens of newcomers to the market, including AST Research Inc. and Advanced Logic Research Inc., both in Irvine, are vying to usurp Toshiba’s position.
