Pepsico Restaurant Unit Helps Firm Cook Up Record Profit

The soft-drink, snack food and restaurant company said its record fourth-quarter profit totaled $265.9 million, up 31.6% from the year-ago period. Revenue rose 13.6% to $5.44 billion. For the year, earnings climbed 19.5% to $1.1 billion. Revenue rose 17.1% to $17.8 billion. The Purchase, N.Y.-based firm attributed its performance to the very strong showing by its restaurant and snack foods units.
