United Telecommunications Inc.: The company said its fourth-quarter earnings totaled $70.1 million, down 30.4% from the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $2.15 billion from $2 billion. For the year, earnings were $306 million, down 15% from 1989. Revenue was $8.35 billion, up from $7.55 billion a year ago. The Kansas City, Mo.-based firm’s long-distance unit, US Sprint, reported a 4% increase in fourth-quarter revenue to $1.33 billion. Sprint’s full year revenue was $5.06 billion, up 17%.
