La Verne : Theaters Get Initial OK

A 12-screen, 2,950-seat theater complex was approved in concept Monday by the City Council after testimony by a mostly pro-theater crowd.

The council voted 4 to 0 to accept the environmental impact report and the general architectural design of the Edwards Cinema Plaza, which is proposed for the corner of Foothill Boulevard and B Street.

In response to requests by theater opponents to study the issue further, Councilman Robert F. Rodriguez said it was “the most over-studied project in the world.”
