Offering Information

I write to commend the publication of Nuestro Tiempo by the Los Angeles Times. As a Chicano professional in the Los Angeles area it is gratifying to see a publication endeavoring to reach out and meet the needs of a significant sector of the community.

Publications such as Nuestro Tiempo serve, I believe, three important functions. First, since newspaper coverage of minorities so frequently seems to emphasize only the negative, it is nice to see articles that convey positive, upbeat images of the Hispanic population generally, and Hispanic leaders and business people specifically. Second, the section serves as an important and necessary acknowledgement of a growing Hispanic population in Southern California. Finally, the Nuestro Tiempo section simply provides fascinating information to a cognizable segment of the population.
