All Sides Support the GIs, but the War?

The View section interview with protester/peace activist Jeanie Bernstein expressed her desire that she not be portrayed as a kook.
I’m relatively conservative, support the Gulf War and have had many occasions to listen to Jeanie’s views. In no way can any rational person consider her a kook. She is a very intelligent, articulate woman who has dedicated her life to promoting a wholesome environment and a peaceful world.
If our views differ on the Gulf War, I suspect it’s because her heart is so pained at the horror of war, our failure to develop alternative energy, our own contribution to Hussein’s military buildup, etc., etc., that she doesn’t see the same degree of imminent menace that I do. In any event, it would be a tragedy if the Jeanie Bernsteins are dismissed as peacenik kooks when their input is desperately needed in fashioning the new world order.
