There Are Better Ways to Show Support for War

I applaud the UCLA decision not to have its basketball players running around sporting the American flag. It’s too painless and mindless to “show support for our boys” by sewing on the flag. There are better ways of showing support, such as by donating blood, educating ourselves about the war, calling for a special war tax from all of us, while also (and there’s no contradiction here) calling for a cease-fire.
