Louisiana State Beats Georgia, 89-86
It was the kind of performance that brought back memories for Shaquille O’Neal.
O’Neal, a sophomore center, scored 38 points and had 17 rebounds to lead No. 19 Louisiana State to an 89-86 Southeastern Conference victory over Georgia Friday night.
“I felt like I was back in high school,” said O’Neal, who made 14 of 17 shots, including 10 dunks, and blocked three shots. “They put one guy on me. They can’t stop me that way.”
LSU, which improved its record to 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the SEC, overcame a nine-point deficit in the final 10 minutes. Vernel Singleton scored six points of his 14 points in the final 1:51 for the Tigers.
Litterial Green scored 27 points for Georgia.
