Sheriff’s deputies arrested 25 anti-abortion protesters Saturday who tried to shut down an East Los Angeles medical clinic, authorities said.

Those arrested were part of a group of between 300 and 400 anti-abortion and abortion-rights demonstrators who gathered about 10 a.m. outside La Mujer clinic at 4055 E. Whittier Blvd., Deputy Mary Landreth said.

Landreth said the protesters were ordered to leave after neighboring businesses complained. While most did so, a small number sat or lay in front of the clinic entrance, according to Landreth. They were carried off by deputies and cited for allegedly resisting arrest and failing to disperse, then released.
