Egypt Schools Reopen

CAIRO —
Egypt, in a sign of growing confidence in its Gulf War stand, reopened its universities Saturday after a two-week delay. Mid-term holidays were scheduled to have ended Jan. 26 but were extended after the Gulf War started Jan. 17.
Diplomats said the delay was aimed at averting possible demonstrations at universities, where the anti-Western fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood enjoys considerable support.
