AUSTRALIA: The government is stepping up efforts to recast its image, part of a campaign to attract investment by projecting itself as a Pacific Rim nation. It is forming an advisory group called the Council for Australia Abroad to develop strategies for raising Australia’s profile--especially in Asia--to reach potential investors. Business executives and government representatives from Australia will discuss investment and trade opportunities with U.S. corporate leaders and investors in New York City this week.
