Tekelec, a Calabasas maker of test equipment for the telecommunications industry, said its fourth-quarter profit jumped 49% from a year earlier on a 46% increase in revenue.
In the quarter ended Dec. 31, Tekelec’s net income climbed to $1.39 million from $933,000 a year earlier, and its revenue rose to $12.4 million from $8.48 million. The company, which derives 51% of its business from foreign customers, said continued strong orders for its equipment accounted for the gains.
For 1990, Tekelec’s profit totaled $5.04 million, up 45% from $3.47 million in 1989, and its annual revenue climbed 24% to $42.2 million from $34.1 million.
