FILLMORE : Council Approves Revised Mini-Mall
A proposed shopping center was approved by the Fillmore City Council on Tuesday night after being denied twice by the Planning Commission.
The original plan turned down by the commission was revised four times before the project was finally approved by the council. The mini-mall is now smaller, and the owner will have to pay for annual inspections to ensure that 105 conditions have been met, council members decided.
The Citrus Center shopping mall was first denied in July because it was too large for the site and parking was inadequate, the Planning Commission said. Residents in the area also opposed the project, which is in a commercial zone on California 126 near B Street but next to a residential area.
Because of the opposition, developer Joe Block and architect LeRoy Andrews presented a revised plan in November that required a code variance. It was also denied.
