A 48-Hour Pause for Mideast Peace

Share

A “pause for peace”? Are they kidding? It’s one thing to let a bunch of diplomats beat their brains out presenting futile peace proposals to Hussein, but we are in a war. Allied lives are at risk. If our previous wars have taught us anything, it is that losing momentum and the initiative in combat can be a very costly mistake. Military history is replete with tales of the disastrous results of failure to maintain the pressure on an exhausted and demoralized enemy. It is being seriously urged that such a pause be adopted by the coalition voluntarily, in order to give Saddam “time to reflect” upon the seriousness of the situation. Give me a break!
