GM Units: Detroit-based General Motors Corp.’s three major subsidiaries posted fourth-quarter profit increases, with the biggest jump coming at Electronic Data Systems Corp., whose earnings rose 12% to $133.4 million, due in part to contracts in new fields such as food service and cellular communications. Revenue was $1.7 billion, 21% higher than a year earlier. Annual net income increased 14% to $496.9 million, while revenue was up 11% to $6.1 billion. GM Hughes Electronics Corp. saw earnings climb 7% to $195.6 million in the fourth quarter on revenue of $2.9 billion, a 2% rise from the year before. Annual earnings for the automotive, defense and aerospace industries supplier dropped 9% to $577.2 million, while revenue rose 3% to $11.7 billion. General Motors Acceptance Corp., the financing and insurance arm of the parent, had fourth-quarter earnings of $259 million, up 3% from 1989, while annual earnings increased 9% to $1.2 billion.
