A teacher for the hearing impaired who was charged with molesting a 14-year-old female student pleaded guilty Thursday to committing misdemeanor battery on the girl.
Kenneth Trigueiro, 59, of La Mesa, who is also deaf, taught almost 20 years for the La Mesa/Spring Valley School District until his suspension last year when allegations surfaced at La Mesa Middle School.
Through his attorney, Gerald Blank, Trigueiro requested immediate sentencing, and Municipal Court Judge Charles Rogers placed him on probation with no jail time or fine.
Under conditions of probation, Trigueiro agreed to surrender his teaching credential, not apply for a teaching position again and “never” to seek reinstatement of his credential. Rogers also ordered Trigueiro to perform 40 hours of community service with adults, and not to contact the victim in the case, who testified against him last month.
