COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Miller, Titan Women Rout San Diego State
Genia Miller scored 25 points and had 17 rebounds as Cal State Fullerton defeated San Diego State, 77-49, in a nonconference basketball game Thursday at Fullerton.
Miller made 11 of 16 attempts and also blocked four shots. Joey Ray scored 22 points and Claudette Jackson scored 19 and had 10 rebounds for Fullerton (19-6).
In other nonconference women’s games:
New Mexico State 84, UC Irvine 77--Despite 27 points from Yvonne Catala, 20 points from Jenny Lee and 19 from Kathy Lizarraga, UC Irvine (5-19, 3-12) could not get past host New Mexico State (10-12, 6-8).
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Pepperdine 7, UC Irvine 2--Mike Roberts won, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, in singles and Randy Ivey and Roberts won, 6-3, 6-0, in doubles for the visiting Anteaters (4-2).
In the Arizona softball tournament:
Cal State Fullerton 3, Cal State Northridge 2 (eight innings, tiebreaker)--Yvette Hernandez scored on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth inning for the Titans in the first round. Charlotte Wiley hit a two-run home run in the first for Fullerton (3-0).
