THE SIDELINES : Muangchai Wins Flyweight Title
Muangchai Kittikasem overpowered fellow Thai Sot Chitrlada from the first round and pounded out a sixth-round technical knockout today to win the World Boxing Council flyweight title.
Left and right hooks pushed Sot to the ropes, then about 10 solid head shots came crashing without any response from the champion. The referee looked into Sot’s bruised face before stopping the fight, scheduled for 12 rounds.
Sot had been punished every round and took standing eight counts twice, including the first round.
