Revenue from the California cigarette tax dropped statewide 8.3% in fiscal year 1989-90 from the year before, and Orange County did not escape the trend. Countywide, revenue dipped 7.8% from fiscal 1988-89 to 1989-90, and almost all the cities registered declines as well. The only exception was in Mission Viejo, where revenue increased 9.4%. The largest municipal decrease was 16.7% in Los Alamitos. Here’s how the cities compare for the last two fiscal years:
