No Parcels for Troops: Pentagon

WASHINGTON —
The Defense Department on Friday renewed its request that Americans not send parcels to troops serving in Operation Desert Storm.
It urged that mail be limited to letters and audio tapes. Officials say massive troop movements have complicated delivery of mail to service members.
The request to reduce the volume of mail was first issued after the start of the Gulf War on Jan. 17.
