WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : USC Gets Close to Stanford but Loses

USC held Stanford scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half and with 14:30 left, Linda Kennedy’s three-point basket pulled the Trojans to within 45-39. But they never got closer, and the No. 11 Cardinal won the Pacific 10 Conference game, 76-58, Friday night at the Lyon Center.
Forward Julie Zeilstra led Stanford (18-4 overall, 11-1 in the Pac-10) with 22 points.
The Trojans (12-10, 6-6) were led by center Lisa Leslie, who scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds.
UCLA 96, California 78--With the score 69-69 with 13:41 to play, the Bruins outscored the Bears, 18-5, in the Pac-10 game at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (12-10, 7-5) were led by guard Rehema Stephens, who scored 27 points. Freshman center Natalie Williams added 17 points and had 15 rebounds.
Laura Baker scored 19 points for Cal (12-10, 5-7).
