Cher’s Canteen
In browsing through Calendar I came across the article “From Cher’s Video Canteen to Desert Storm” (the Feb. 10 Pop Eye column). How sad to think that we as a people are unable, without drastic editing, to send to our troops overseas a TV program.
A country that we consider so different from ours (Saudi Arabia) still has some sense of presenting values on decent dress, recordings and presentations. We have been so consumed with allowing “freedom” to every individual that we have compromised our sense of decency.
Bravo to the Armed Forces Network that it is still concerned about not offending a culture that reserves the right to uphold decency for its people.
