Author Isn’t Answer to Catholics’ Prayers

Regarding Uta Ranke-Heinemann vs. the Catholic Church, I cannot but agree with some of what she says about the church’s anti-feminism and imposed priestly celibacy.

However, as she presents herself as an intelligent, well-read woman of her times, I cannot understand her condemnation of the Persian Gulf war as “total madness.” Would she prefer to let Saddam Hussein and his like reach our shores before we act to stop him?
