THE GULF WAR: The Battle Front : A Little Lobbying
The government of KUWAIT HAS HIRED NEILL & CO., a U.S. lobbying firm, to help smooth relations with American lawmakers, deflect criticism of extravagant lifestyles of wealthy Kuwaitis and ensure continued support for the occupied oil-rich kingdom. The three-month, $150,000 contract signed in January calls for Neill & Co. to provide “advice and information on issues in the U.S. Congress relating to development of U.S. policy in the Persian Gulf.” The contract can be extended on a monthly basis at $50,000 a month.
