Simi Computer Firm’s Income, Sales Jump

PerfectData Corp. reported net income of $177,000 for the quarter that ended Dec. 31, compared to $4,000 in net income a year earlier. The Simi Valley company, which makes products for cleaning and maintaining computer equipment, said sales jumped 59% to $1.5 million from $938,000 a year earlier.

For the nine months that ended Dec. 31, net income jumped to $454,000 from $7,000 in the third quarter of 1989. Sales during the period increased 63% to $4.32 million from $2.66 million a year earlier.

Last year’s slim earnings reflected costs associated with launching a new line of devices that hold copy for computer users.
