COUNTYWIDE : Meeting for Women Seeking Posts Set

Share

A meeting for women who are interested in serving on government boards will be held Feb. 28 by the Ventura County Commission for Women.

The Local Appointments Coalition will meet to help women interested in being appointed or elected to local, county or state government boards, commission spokeswoman Bonnie Warrington said. Included will be neighborhood councils, city councils, school districts, and park and recreation districts.

“The target is to get women involved politically through a community level,” women’s commission Chairwoman Kathy Long said.

Participants will learn how to develop resumes to use when applying for appointed government positions and the agencies to contact.

Often service on a local government board is a “steppingstone to a higher office,” Warrington said.

County Supervisor Maggie Erickson Kildee will speak at the meeting, which will be held at the Ventura County Government Center’s Hall of Administration in the multipurpose room at 7 p.m. Reservations may be made at 529-2060, Ext. 7611.
