Hewlett-Packard Co.: The 1991 first quarter saw net earnings rise 18% to $205 million from a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter totaled $3.4 billion, up 10%. The maker of computers and microchips, based in Palo Alto, said the increases were due to new products and expense controls.
