Rhythm & Blues & Money: Awards totaling $130,000 will be handed out today in New York City in celebration of Rhythm & Blues Day. On the receiving end of the financial windfall from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation will be pioneers Maxine Brown, Al Hibbler, Albert King, Jimmy McCracklin, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Moore, the Five Keys and the Spaniels. The Washington-based foundation is an independent, nonprofit group established to provide aging music veterans with financial assistance and to foster recognition for the art form.
