SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : School District Votes to Subsidize GI Pay
- Share via
Military reservists who are employed by the Capistrano Unified School District and are called to active duty will have their military pay subsidized under a measure passed this week by the Board of Education.
The district will pay employees the difference between their military salary and their district pay for 180 days if they are called up because of the Persian Gulf War. The employees and their families would also keep their district medical insurance.
Federal law requires an employer to pay the difference in salary for 30 days. Thus far, no district workers have been activated, officials said.
