President’s Proposals on Energy

Share

The most important problem facing us is the pollution of our environment. All other problems have no meaning if we can’t breathe the air or can’t raise enough food to feed ourselves. I fear that our planet may have reached a point where that may be the case now unless we reduce the amount of pollution we create.

Pollution is a direct result of energy production. That is why I am deeply disturbed by President Bush’s energy plan calling for drilling oil in Alaska and the licensing of more nuclear power plants.

We do not need more oil or power plants. What we need is the use of less oil and energy. Before we drill new oil wells or build more power plants, we must fully exploit conservation and the use of alternative fuels and energy sources. Bush’s energy policy is obsolete and dangerous.
