Man Arrested After Job Supervisor Threatened

A 19-year-old Glendale man, who authorities said was seeking revenge against his boss for stealing his girlfriend, has been arrested on suspicion of hiring two gang members to threaten the supervisor’s life.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Sunday that detectives learned of the plot Thursday night from one of Vache Marcarian’s co-workers at an El Pollo Loco restaurant in the 2200 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Canada Flintridge.

Marcarian told the co-worker that he had hired the men because the supervisor had stolen Marcarian’s girlfriend and accused him of stealing money from the restaurant, Deputy Rafael Estrada said.

The supervisor, whose name was not released, told police that he had received three death threats by telephone during the past three weeks from a caller who identified himself as a gang member, Estrada said.

Marcarian was arrested Saturday afternoon at the restaurant, where he had worked for two years. He was being held on suspicion of terrorism at the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Glendale Municipal Court.

The gang members have not been arrested, Estrada said.
