BUENA PARK : Elementary School Areas May Change

Share

Officials of the Centralia School District are considering changing the attendance boundaries for three district elementary schools in order to fill Centralia School when it reopens in 1993.

More than 500 students are expected to be transferred from their current schools to accommodate the opening, most likely from Danbrook, Walter Knott and Dysinger schools, district officials said.

“These are the three schools with the largest enrollment,” said Steve Bolman, director of fiscal services. Transfers will occur during the 1992-93 school year, he noted.

Centralia officials have been planning to reopen Centralia School, which was closed after a period of declining enrollment, for more than a year.

Two new attendance boundaries are under consideration: the first area is bounded by Knott and Stanton avenues on the east and west sides, with Lincoln and Crescent avenues the south and north boundaries; the second area includes Knott and Western avenues, from Del Monte Drive north to Lincoln Avenue.

Thus far, there has been little opposition to the proposed boundary changes. Debbie Koziel, president of the Walter Knott PTA, said that the move is convenient for many students who live close to Centralia School.

An informational meeting for parents who have questions about the boundary changes will be held tonight at 7 at Danbrook School, 340 Danbrook St., Anaheim.
