During its occupation by Iraq, Kuwait has continued to be recognized as an independent country by the United Nations. Recently, Kuwait paid in FULL ITS U.N. DUES for 1991, a U.N. spokesman said. The Kuwaiti ambassador handed over a check for $2,671,791. The emirate is assessed a 0.29% share of U.N. dues of $962 million. Iraq, with a much larger population but smaller per capita income, is assessed about $1.1 million.
