Second Condor Egg Laid at Zoo This Week
A pair of California condors laid an egg Thursday at the Los Angeles Zoo, the second such egg at the zoo in two days.
Keepers removed the egg about 7 a.m. from the nesting box of Cuyama and Cachuma without disturbing the endangered giant vultures. If all goes well, the egg should hatch in April, zoo officials said.
Their new egg is the seventh produced by condors at the zoo in Griffith Park. Two named Anyapa and Kaweah laid an egg on Tuesday.
All 40 known California condors are kept either at the Los Angeles Zoo or the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
