AFTERMATH OF WAR: The Diplomatic Front : In Kuwait
Kuwait has CHANGED ITS PASSPORTS AND NATIONAL CURRENCY, the dinar, an envoy of Kuwait’s emir said. Rashid Hamoud Sabah spoke to Kuwaiti exiles in the United Arab Emirates city of Ajman. Many of the 400,000 Kuwaitis who fled to other Persian Gulf states are without passports or other identification papers, seized by Iraqi troops, and will be given special cards to ease their return. The official said Kuwait had changed dinar notes after reports of forgery by Iraqis and money exchangers in several countries. CAR LICENSE PLATES also are to be changed, apparently to avoid counterfeit schemes by the Iraqis, who reportedly seized many vehicles.
