Project Airs to Curb School Dropout Rate
Wednesday marked the start of a $3.5-million, satellite-transmitted educational project designed to help students regarded as being in danger of dropping out or not attending college.
The effort is called TEAMS (Telecommunications Education for Advances in Mathematics and Science). The first program, called Multicultural, Multidiscipline Math, will air Monday. Future shows will deal with literature, languages and programing for college-bound students.
Participating schools include Garfield Elementary in Alhambra, Marshall Junior High School in Pomona, Monrovia High School, Bassett High School in La Puente and the entire Claremont Unified School District.
